Another residence with period details exemplifies the architecture of Charles Hewitt Smith, who built many lighthouses and breakwaters throughout New England. Originally built in 1820 for Smith himself, this home underwent an extensive renovation in the 1890s that incorporated modern conveniences such as indoor plumbing, wall-to-wall carpeting, and elaborately carved Victorian woodwork and paneling.
